Trump Spokesperson Mocked After Accidentally Saying White House Wants Justice Dept. to Focus on 'Fighting Law and Order': 'Legendary Slip'

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made what is being referred to as a "legendary slip" on Monday during a press briefing on the administration's legal battle over deportations.

"We want to restore the Department of Justice to an institution that focuses on fighting law and order," Leavitt stated without realizing her mistake.

Critics seized on the gaffe, which seemingly implied President Donald Trump's administration was against law and order.

"Freud would have a field day with this one," one user quipped, while another called it the "Freudian slip of the century."

Others suggested the statement accidentally revealed the administration's true intentions, with one post reading, "She said the quiet part loud."

Some X users compared the mistake to Trump's 2020 remark about appointing "very pro-crime judges."

The blunder comes amid heightened scrutiny over the DOJ's role in Trump's second term, with critics accusing the administration of weaponizing the department for political retribution. The White House has not yet addressed the incident.
