President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday with the aim of terminating all taxpayer-funded benefits to undocumented immigrants. The order directs executive departments and agencies to identify federally funded programs that allow undocumented migrants to access public benefits and take appropriate actions to align these programs with federal law.
The order also requires agency heads to ensure that federal payments to states and localities do not facilitate illegal immigration or sanctuary policies. It further calls for enhancing eligibility verification systems to exclude undocumented migrants from receiving taxpayer benefits.

The White House stated that the Biden administration had undermined the goals of existing laws. Within 30 days, the Office of Management and Budget and the United States DOGE Service, in coordination with the Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy, are tasked with identifying other sources of federal funding for illegal aliens and recommending additional agency actions to align federal spending with the order's purposes.
However, the identity of the DOGE administrator remains unclear, as court filings from the Trump administration have indicated that Elon Musk is not the administrator. White House deputy chief of staff for policy, Stephen Miller, clarified that Trump is in charge of DOGE but is not serving as its administrator.
