Trump Settles Lawsuit Against Musk's X for $10 Million After Being Removed From the Platform Amid the Capitol Riots: Report

President Donald Trump has settled a lawsuit from before he took office against his right-hand man, Elon Musk's X, for $10 million.

Trump sued the platform, then Twitter, back in 2021 after it banned him for instigating the January 6th Capitol riot.

Trump nearly dropped the suit after Musk, who bought the platform in 2022, reinstated his account and poured nearly $300 million into his 2024 election bid. However, the settlement is moving forward as part of Trump's ongoing legal battles with major social platforms, according to The Washington Post.

The settlement with X follows a similar deal with Meta, which agreed to pay Trump $25 million after banning him from Facebook in 2021. Trump's lawsuit alleged that these bans were politically motivated censorship.

Trump tapped Musk to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and granted him sweeping control over federal personnel, budgets, and data. In just three weeks, over a dozen lawsuits have accused the administration of breaking the law. Many have challenged DOGE's overreach, with courts repeatedly ruling against Musk.

Meanwhile, Musk's business empire is benefitting from government deals. Tesla is set to receive a $400 million contract from the State Department for armored vehicles.
