Former President Donald Trump recently addressed concerns about the security at his campaign events, stating that his team had been requesting additional manpower for security but had not been receiving adequate support. However, Trump mentioned in an interview with Newsmax that the security has now been significantly strengthened, acknowledging that it should have been improved earlier.
Reports indicate that Trump's security detail had been expressing dissatisfaction with the resources provided by the Secret Service over the past couple of years. The agency had reportedly denied some of the requests made by the security team.
Regarding the resignation of US Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, Trump expressed his belief that she may not have had much of a choice in stepping down. Cheatle resigned amidst ongoing investigations by lawmakers and an internal government watchdog into the Secret Service's handling of Trump's protection and a recent security incident where a gunman came close to harming him at a rally in Pennsylvania.
