Afternoon Update: Trump’s plan to ‘take over’ Gaza; Lattouf reveals death threats; and Bianca Censori’s silence

Donald Trump has vowed that the US would “take over” war-ravaged Gaza and “own it”, effectively endorsing the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, after a White House meeting with Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Anthony Albanese said Australia’s position on a two-state solution remained “the same as it was this morning” despite the shock announcement.

Elsewhere in Trump’s America, Elon Musk’s “department of government efficiency” continues to wreak havoc. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Department of Commerce are the latest targets of potential downsizing.
