Special counsel Jack Smith recently filed a superseding indictment against former President Donald Trump, prompting Trump's legal team to organize a 'legal messaging' call for surrogates and allies. The call, led by legal adviser Boris Epshteyn and Trump attorneys Todd Blanche and John Lauro, aims to align surrogates and allies on messaging strategies. This move comes as the campaign faces challenges in breaking through Vice President Kamala Harris' momentum.
In addition to the call, Trump's team has been actively seeking donations following the indictment. The superseding indictment, filed by Smith on Tuesday in the federal election interference case against Trump, maintains the four original charges brought against the former president.
However, the reworked indictment has excluded some of the allegations regarding Trump's purported attempts to leverage the Justice Department to advance his unfounded claims of election fraud. Prosecutors are adjusting their approach to adhere to the Supreme Court's immunity ruling.
