President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for Health and Human Services secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and his choice for director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, are currently engaging in discussions with lawmakers on Capitol Hill today.
Gabbard expressed that she is having productive conversations as she met with GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who has shown some reservations about certain selections made by Trump. Additionally, Gabbard met with Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff, marking the first Senate Democrat to engage with Trump’s DNI pick. She is also scheduled to meet with Democratic Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman later this week.
Upon his arrival, Kennedy did not respond to inquiries from the press, particularly regarding vaccines. On a previous occasion, Kennedy mentioned his support for the polio vaccine, aligning with a statement made by Trump earlier. It was reported that a lawyer associated with Kennedy has requested the US Food and Drug Administration to withdraw approval of the polio vaccine utilized in the United States.
Thus far, Kennedy has held discussions with Republican Sen. Steve Daines of Montana and Oklahoma Sen. James Lankford.
