Trump and Kemp met face-to-face for the first time since their relationship became strained around the 2020 presidential election. Despite their past disagreements, Trump acknowledged Kemp's hard work amid the hurricane devastation, thanking him for his effective efforts.
During the visit, Governor Kemp expressed gratitude to Trump for returning to the state to assess the storm damage and maintain a national focus on Georgia's recovery. Trump also inquired about communication in the state, with Kemp providing an update that it was improving.
Additionally, Trump expressed appreciation to Elon Musk for providing Starlink internet service to areas impacted by the hurricane. SpaceX's satellite internet service announced free service for 30 days in affected regions, aiding in the recovery efforts.
When asked about the potential impact of the storm on voter turnout, Trump emphasized that his primary concern was the well-being of individuals affected by the hurricane, stating, 'I'm not thinking about voters right now, I'm thinking about lives.'
