President Donald Trump announced plans to speak with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday morning, just ahead of the impending US tariffs on Canada. Trump expressed his expectations for the discussions, stating that he anticipates no significant developments and emphasized the importance of the tariffs in addressing outstanding debts.

Trudeau, on the other hand, revealed that his attempts to contact Trump since the inauguration have gone unanswered, highlighting a potential strain in communication between the two leaders.

Over the weekend, Trump unveiled the imposition of a 25% duty on all imports from Mexico and most Canadian goods, along with a 10% tariff on Chinese imports. In response, Mexico, Canada, and China swiftly announced plans for retaliatory measures.

Furthermore, Trump issued a warning to the European Union, threatening additional tariffs and accusing the EU of unfair trade practices. He criticized the EU for its alleged imbalance in trade, citing disparities in the exchange of cars, farm products, and other goods between the US and the EU.
