Former President Donald Trump is gearing up for the upcoming debate against Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris by increasing his campaign schedule. The debate is set to take place on Tuesday, Sept. 10 on ABC News in Philadelphia at the National Constitution Center.
The terms for the debate have been agreed upon by both campaigns, with rules including no notes, no sitting, no audience, and no open microphones. The Harris campaign initially pushed for open microphones but eventually accepted the terms.
Trump's campaign officials have mentioned that his preparation involves meeting with voters, taking questions from the press, and engaging in rallies and speeches. Trump has multiple events scheduled per day leading up to the debate, including town halls, speeches, and rallies in various states.
On the other hand, the Harris campaign has enlisted the help of attorney Karen Dunn for debate preparation. Dunn previously assisted Harris in her 2020 vice presidential debate against then-Vice President Mike Pence.
Notably, the Biden-Harris administration has an ongoing antitrust lawsuit against Google, with the trial scheduled to begin on Sept. 9, a day before the first presidential debate. Trump's campaign has criticized Harris for allegedly being coached by Google's top lawyer, citing a conflict of interest.
As the debate approaches, both candidates are actively preparing for the event through different strategies. Trump's focus is on engaging with voters and the press, while Harris is receiving assistance from legal counsel for debate preparation.
