When aides scrambled to move Donald Trump’s inauguration indoors, it meant figuring out how to accommodate a slew of VIP guests and dignitaries in town for the big event. Roughly 700 seats have been placed in the Rotunda, where Trump will formally be sworn in. Another 1,800 are set up inside Emancipation Hall, where Trump will go after he gives his inaugural address.
The last few days have included star VIPs jostling for certain seats or key allies of Trump asking for tickets for guests and constituents in town. Most of Trump’s biggest donors made the trek to Washington for the inauguration. Despite the effort to include as many seats as possible, the reality of moving the inauguration inside means many people won’t be able to watch in person.
