Preparations for Donald Trump's inauguration are still ongoing as officials announced that the events will be moved indoors due to dangerously cold conditions. The public will still have the opportunity to see Trump's motorcade traveling to the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue. However, many details are still being finalized.
The Inauguration Joint Public Information Center, which includes the Secret Service and DC Police, is working to adjust security plans to accommodate the frigid temperatures. A security perimeter is being expanded around the Capital One Arena where the inauguration will now take place.
With over 200,000 ticket holders for the event and the arena's capacity of just over 20,000, questions remain about seating arrangements. The center directed inquiries about seating to the Presidential Inauguration Committee, as those details are still forthcoming.
There is a security plan in place to manage any overflow of attendees who cannot enter the arena once it reaches capacity, although specifics were not provided. Trump announced that the presidential parade will now be held at the arena, with spectators able to line up on Pennsylvania Avenue to watch Trump's motorcade.
It was clarified that the motorcade will not be in parade formation but will simply transport Trump. The security perimeter, including anti-scalable fencing and blockades, will be limited, with additional fencing to be installed around the arena on Sunday and final security measures to be put in place on Monday morning.
