Trump Fires Head of NSA Hours After Far Right Activist Urged Him to Do So

President Donald Trump fired a National Security Agency (NSA) director shortly after far-right activist Laura Loomer told him in a meeting that several top officials were not sufficiently loyal to him.

The most high-ranking official to be fired is Gen. Timothy Haugh, the director of the NSA and who also leads the U.S. Cyber Command. Haugh's deputy, Wendy Noble, was also removed from her post.

CNN reported on Friday that Loomer specifically advocated for the firing of Haugh because he had been handpicked by Mark Milley, the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Loomer celebrated the decision in a lengthy social media publication, saying that "as a Biden appointee, General Haugh had no place serving in the Trump admin given the fact that he was HAND PICKED by General Milley, who was accused of committing treason by President Trump."

"Why would we want an NSA Director who was referred to Biden after being hand selected by Milley, who told China he would side with them over Trump!?!? The vetters should have been more critical given the fact that the Pentagon revoked the security detail and clearance for retired general Mark Milley, who called President Trump a FASCIST," she added.

Regarding Noble, Loomer called her a "protege of Trump hater James Clapper, who frankly, belongs in prison." "President Trump has accused Clapper of spying on his campaign and Clapper falsely accused the Russians of stealing the election for Trump. James Clapper is a traitor to his country, as are all of his enablers and supporters. Why would we want Clapper's protege at the NSA?"

Axios and The New York Times had reported on Thursday that Loomer showed Trump at their White House meeting troves of opposition research that attacked the character and loyalty of the officials.

Other officials have told CNN that there is a culture of fear inside the Defense Department, with many believing they could be fired at any time if they are not deemed sufficiently loyal to Trump.
