Trump Endorses Feuding Candidates In Arizona Congressional Primary

Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. President Trump hosts New Hampshire primary election night watch party in Nashua

Former President Donald Trump recently endorsed two candidates, Blake Masters and Abe Hamadeh, in a closely watched Republican primary in Arizona. The primary is to replace GOP Rep. Debbie Lesko in Arizona's 8th Congressional District.

Trump expressed his support for both candidates on Truth Social, stating that they would both be 'spectacular' and have his 'Complete and Total Endorsement' for the congressional seat. This endorsement comes amidst a heated feud between Masters and Hamadeh, who have been running against each other in the primary.

While Trump had previously endorsed Hamadeh last year, his support for Masters was a more recent development just before the Tuesday primary elections in Arizona. Ohio Sen. JD Vance, Trump's running mate, had also endorsed Masters earlier.

Masters and Hamadeh had previously run on the same ticket in 2022 for different positions, with both losing their respective races. However, their current campaigns for the 8th Congressional District seat have taken a negative turn, with Masters referring to Hamadeh as 'dishonest Abe' and Hamadeh labeling Masters as a 'snake.'

On the other hand, Rep. Debbie Lesko endorsed state House Speaker Ben Toma as her preferred replacement for the congressional seat. Other notable candidates in the race include state Sen. Anthony Kern, who was one of the Republicans charged in the Arizona fake electors case, and former US Rep. Trent Franks, who resigned from Congress in 2017 amid an ethics investigation related to discussions about surrogacy with female staffers.
