Trump Denies Considering Jamie Dimon As Treasury Secretary

Chase CEO Jamie Dimon leaves meeting with Senate Majority Leader Schumer in Washington

In a recent interview, former President Donald Trump expressed openness to considering JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon as Treasury Secretary. Trump stated, 'I have a lot of respect for Jamie Dimon' and indicated that Dimon could be a potential candidate for the position in a future Trump administration.

However, Trump later disavowed these comments, claiming on Truth Social that he never discussed or considered Dimon or Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock, for the role of Treasury Secretary. Trump attributed the initial statements to possibly originating from the Radical Left.

Notably, Trump's remarks in the Bloomberg interview represented a shift from his previous criticism of Dimon. In November, Trump had criticized Dimon as a 'Highly overrated Globalist' after Dimon praised Nikki Haley during her presidential campaign. Dimon later acknowledged agreement with Trump on certain issues and warned against undermining the 'Make America Great Again' movement.

It is evident that Trump's stance on Dimon's potential appointment as Treasury Secretary has evolved, reflecting the complexities of political dynamics and alliances within the financial and political spheres.
