Trump Criticizes Milwaukee Crime Rates, DNC Responds

Donald Trump during speech.

During a recent meeting with House Republicans, former President Donald Trump referred to Milwaukee as 'horrible,' specifically in relation to crime rates in the city. This comment was made as the GOP plans to hold its convention in Milwaukee this summer. Representative Derrick Van Orden clarified that Trump's remarks were directed at the crime situation in Milwaukee and not the city as a whole.

The Democratic National Committee was quick to respond to Trump's comments, criticizing the lack of a substantial campaign presence in Wisconsin by Trump and the Republican National Committee. The DNC highlighted Trump's negative perception of Milwaukee and urged Wisconsinites to consider this when voting in the upcoming November elections.

In defense of Trump's comments, the Wisconsin GOP spokesperson, Matt Fisher, emphasized the importance of election integrity in Milwaukee. Fisher pointed out instances of mismanagement in elections, such as Kimberly Zapata's conviction for obtaining false absentee ballots and the mailing of over 200 ballots to incorrect addresses earlier this year. The Republican Party of Wisconsin is actively working to safeguard the voting process in the state.
