President Donald Trump has responded to recent judicial rulings that have blocked or paused several of his recent actions aimed at advancing his agenda. In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump claimed that his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has identified fraudulent actions, waste, and incompetence. He argued that despite this, a judge is demanding immediate payment from his administration.
Trump criticized the judge involved, referring to them as a 'highly political, activist judge' and expressing frustration at the requirement to make payment under these circumstances. This comes as Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Elon Musk, and other top administration officials have openly criticized judges who have impeded some of the president's second-term orders.
Elon Musk went as far as calling the judge 'corrupt' and demanding their impeachment, while Vance questioned the authority of the judicial branch to block Trump's orders. Recent legal actions have seen courts intervene to halt Trump's efforts to end birthright citizenship, freeze federal grants and loans, and reduce the scope of government agencies such as USAID and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Additionally, one judge has prevented DOGE officials from accessing the Treasury Department's payment system.
On Tuesday, Trump signed an executive order directing DOGE to collaborate with federal agencies to implement significant cuts in federal government staffing levels.
