However, Trump mentioned that he had not personally reached out to Biden regarding federal relief efforts and criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for campaigning instead of focusing on the crisis.
Despite Trump's comments, CNN reported that Vice President Harris cut short her campaign activities to attend briefings on Hurricane Helene in Washington, DC. Trump emphasized the severity of the situation, particularly in North Carolina, where he noted significant damage and challenges in communication and access to affected areas.
During his visit to Valdosta, Georgia, Trump participated in briefings on the hurricane's impact and the distribution of relief supplies. He highlighted the presence of evangelical missionary Franklin Graham, who leads the humanitarian aid organization Samaritan's Purse, in providing support to those affected by the disaster.
Trump expressed his commitment to assisting communities impacted by Hurricane Helene and coordinating efforts with local officials and organizations to address the urgent needs arising from the natural disaster.
