Trump also commented on Florida Sen. Marco Rubio's residency, noting that both of them living in Florida could complicate matters. While there is no law preventing a president and vice president from the same state, the Constitution requires state electors to vote for candidates from different states.
Despite the residency issue, Trump indicated that Rubio's status wouldn't necessarily preclude him from being the pick, although it could require some logistical adjustments with delegates or resignations.
During a recent rally in Florida, Trump hinted at the possibility of Rubio being his vice president, adding to the speculation surrounding his selection. Trump has expressed his desire to announce his running mate at the upcoming GOP convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but also mentioned the possibility of making the announcement just before the convention.
Regarding Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, Trump dismissed rumors about his beard affecting the selection process, stating that Vance 'looks good' and even likened him to a 'young Abraham Lincoln.'
Trump's considerations for his running mate also seem to be influenced by the uncertainty surrounding President Joe Biden's status as the Democratic nominee. Trump mentioned that they are monitoring the situation with Biden and suggested that it could impact his decision-making process.
