Trump Considers Sending Violent Criminals Abroad For Deportation

Donald Trump Poses for a picture

President Donald Trump has expressed openness to the idea of sending violent and dangerous American criminals to other countries, such as El Salvador. This comes after El Salvador offered to house these individuals in exchange for a fee. While acknowledging concerns about the legality of such a move, Trump stated that his administration is currently exploring whether it would be legally permissible.

During a meeting in the Oval Office, Trump stated, 'If we had the legal right to do it, I would do it in a heartbeat. I don’t know if we do or not. We’re looking at that right now. But we could make deals where we’d get these animals out of our country.' Trump emphasized his desire to remove these individuals from the United States, referring to them as 'hardened' criminals who have been involved in violent crimes or heinous acts.

Trump mentioned that El Salvador is not the only country that has offered to house violent American criminals, noting that there have been offers from 'numerous' other nations as well. He clarified that any potential agreements would need to comply with the laws of the respective countries involved.

Comparing criminal American citizens to undocumented migrants, Trump stated, 'We have people that are just as bad as them in our country. If we could get them out, I’d be very happy.' He specifically highlighted individuals who have been repeat offenders of violent crimes or have committed acts such as unprovoked shootings or assaults on vulnerable individuals.

While the feasibility and legality of such a proposal are still being evaluated, Trump's comments have sparked discussions about the potential implications of transferring violent American criminals to other countries. Critics have raised concerns about the human rights and legal implications of such a strategy.
