Trump Campaign Attacks Kamala Harris On Immigration Portfolio

Donald Trump to testify in New York civil fraud trial

The Trump campaign has launched new ads targeting Vice President Kamala Harris' immigration portfolio, falsely labeling her as the administration's 'border czar.' Despite recent changes in candidates, the campaign continues to focus on the US-Mexico border issue.

President Joe Biden's handling of the US-Mexico border has been a contentious topic, and now the spotlight is on Harris as the Trump campaign criticizes her role in addressing migration from Central America.

Republicans are holding Harris accountable for the surge in migrant arrivals at the southern border, portraying her as solely responsible for the situation. The campaign ads reference a 2021 interview where Harris admitted to not visiting the border, leading to criticism.

One of the ads features a video of Harris dancing at an event with the caption 'This is America's border czar—and she's failed us.' The ads conclude by describing Harris as 'failed, weak, and dangerously liberal.'

In response, a spokesperson for Harris defended her record, highlighting her experience as a former district attorney, attorney general, and vice president. The spokesperson emphasized Harris' commitment to tackling violent crime and ensuring community safety.

Harris was assigned to oversee diplomatic efforts in Central America in March 2021 during a surge in unaccompanied migrant children. While she focused on long-term solutions, the Department of Homeland Security remained responsible for border security.

As Harris' campaign progresses and immigration continues to be a key issue for voters, her team faces the challenge of defending her role in addressing migration. Sources suggest that Harris' efforts in Central America have shown early success due to significant private-sector investments, despite being overshadowed by broader migration issues within the administration.
