The Trump administration has directed federal health agencies to halt external communications, including regular scientific reports, website updates, and health advisories. The orders were issued to staff at agencies within the US Department of Health and Human Services, such as the US Food and Drug Administration, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the National Institutes of Health.

The directive was issued by Stefanie Spear, a new deputy chief of staff at HHS. Spear, who previously served as press secretary for Robert F. Kennedy Jr., is awaiting Senate confirmation for the role of HHS secretary.
