A new true crime documentary series is to examine the case of a retired Scots cop who killed his wife of 33 years. "Cops Who Kill With Will Mellor" will lift the lid on eight cases of murder and betrayal by officers from the UK and abroad, including Keith Farquharson.
The former inspector, who repeatedly cheated on wife Alice Farquharson, murdered her moments after she asked if he still loved her at their home in Aberdeen on August 29, 2019.
Alice had stood by the 60-year-old despite his adultery and his demotion in work for sending a pornographic poem to a female officer. But the 56-year-old teaching assistant had suspicions he was seeing another woman again shortly before she was killed.
He was jailed for 15 years for the mum-of-three's murder.
This brand new eight-part series, commissioned by Crime + Investigation, examines crimes from the UK, Australia and the US. Line of Duty star Will explores eight cases where police officers have committed murder.
He'll scrutinise the devious plots and planning that went into each crime and how the perpetrators used their police training to try and cover their tracks.
Cases explored in the show also include Sarah Everard - the 33-year-old marketing executive who was kidnapped, raped and murdered by Met Police officer Wayne Couzens in south London, back in 2021.
Will said: “Cops Who Kill is a fascinating project, examining cases where the police abuse their power unforgivably and the repercussions this has across society. It’s a timely series and I’m privileged to talk to experts in their fields about how we can learn from these crimes.”
He'll be joined by a number of experts including ex-Metropolitan Police murder detective Howard Groves, forensic psychologist Serena Simmons and former anti-corruption cop Julie Mackay.
Cops Who Kill With Will Mellor premieres on Crime + Investigation on Monday March 6 at 10pm and on Crime+Investigation PLAY on March 7.
