The Truckers said that vehicles are to meet at the following locations at "3am sharp" on Monday morning:

  • M1 Applegreen Service Station Lusk Southbound.

The group have pledged to wreck havoc in the capital until the Government tackle rising fuel costs.

Protesters have been asked to bring "heaters, marquees, tents and food" as the demonstration may go on for "at least a week, maybe even two".

In a statement on Facebook, the Truckers said there is "no turning back".

They wrote: "Once we are in we stop and we do not move until our demands are met.

"Remember this is for the people of Ireland and we will all benefit.

"Let's stand together once and for all."

They also said they are aware people will have to rearrange appointments due to the traffic chaos but "you all have had plenty of notice."

They said: "Bus lanes & Public Transport will be in operation as normal but expect long delays.

"Emergency routes will be in place where possible.

"If you are in an emergency situation contact the nearest gardai and they will give an escort.

"This is a sacrifice and this will cost us all a lot of money at the same time.

"Please look at why we are doing this and get out and support."
