Truck towing digger flips on Scots road leaving motorists stuck for over an hour

Motorists on a major Scots road were stuck for more than an hour after a truck towing a small digger on a trailer flipped over.

Emergency services were called to the A92 at Hill of Beath, near Cowdenbeath in Fife, shortly before 3pm.

Reports from emergency crews suggest that a pickup towing a small digger on a trailer was involved in the smash, along with two cars.

Images shared by stalled drivers on social media showed traffic backed up for miles on the eastbound dual carriageway.

Drivers were praised for parking their cars at the edges of the road to allow emergency services to pass through.

One female casualty was treated at the scene by paramedics and has since been taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.

Her injuries are not believed to be serious.

Vehicles have begun moving after one lane of the carriageway was re-opened shortly before 5pm, according to network monitor Traffic Scotland.

Police are now appealing for anyone who may have captured the incident on a dashcam to get in touch.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were called to reports of a three vehicle crash on the A92, near Hill of Beath, Fife, around 3pm on Friday, 18 March, 2022.

"Two cars and a pickup truck towing a trailer were involved.

"A woman has been taken to the Victoria Hospital by ambulance.

"The road remains closed eastbound and officers are at the scene.

"Anyone who has dashcam footage of what happened is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference number 2056 of 18 March, 2022."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were called to attend a road traffic collision on the A92 at 2.59pm involving a car carrying a small digger on a trailer.

"One casualty was treated by the Scottish Ambulance Service while we made the scene safe, and left at 3.35pm."
