Authorities in Israel are investigating a disturbing incident near Tel Aviv, where a suspect drove a truck into a bus stop, resulting in at least 35 people being injured. The tragic event occurred in Ramat Hasharon, in the Glilot area northeast of Tel Aviv, as commuters were returning to work following a holiday period.
The bus stop, located near an army base and the Mossad intelligence agency headquarters, became the scene of chaos as the truck collided with a bus that had stopped to drop off passengers. Reports indicate that some victims were trapped under the vehicle.
According to Tazpit Press Service (TPS), civilians at the scene took action by shooting and killing the truck driver, who allegedly brandished a knife. Tragically, one individual succumbed to their injuries at Ichilov Medical Center in Tel Aviv.
The driver was identified as a resident of Qalansawe, an Israeli-Arab town, as confirmed by police sources. While Hamas and the Islamic Jihad terrorist group praised the incident, they did not claim responsibility for it.
Many of those injured were elderly retirees en route to a museum, with at least one victim sustaining life-threatening injuries. The area surrounding the bus stop is home to several army intelligence units that have previously been targeted by Hezbollah missile strikes.
