Truck driver charged over death of cyclist

A truck driver has been charged over an alleged hit and run that killed a cyclist in central-west NSW.

Emergency services were called to Henry Lawson Way in Glenelg at 11.10am on Monday following reports a 67-year-old man had been found unconscious beside his bike.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated man but he died at the scene.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 39-year-old man during a traffic stop south of Forbes on Tuesday afternoon.

Police allege he was the driver of an Isuzu truck at the time the cyclist was struck and fatally injured.

The man was charged with failing to stop and assist after a vehicle impact causing death and appeared at Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday.

He was granted bail with conditions to report to police once a day, and cannot apply for a passport or enter any international airports.

The man will next appear in court on May 1.
