Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has criticised BJP State president Bandi Sanjay and termed his remarks at a protest staged here on Monday as “mindless and meaningless outbursts”.
Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Rythu Bandhu Samithi (RBS) chairman and MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and legislators Guvvala Balaraju, A. Jeevan Reddy and Danam Nagender observed that Mr. Sanjay had no understanding on the paddy procurement exercise. “He doesn’t even know the difference between paddy and rice and the difference between paddy and wheat. That’s why they have printed the pictures of wheat on the posters of their Monday’s protest here,” they said.
They sought to know how the State Government would give estimates of raw rice supply to FCI this Rabi season when it was repeatedly making it clear that it would not accept parboiled rice and production of raw rice during Rabi was not economical in Telangana. When the BJP-led Centre had told Parliament that farmers’ suicides had come down in Telangana, Mr. Sanjay was speaking that the suicides had increased, they pointed out.
Stating that “people, particularly farmers, were ready to bury BJP in Telangana”, they said, “We do not wish death for Mr. Sanjay but we will ensure that his family get ₹5 lakh insurance claim under Rythu Bima scheme in case he dies”.
