Aussie icon Troye Sivan has called out a homophobic “blind item” that questioned his priorities on the Charli xcx tour.
A gossip blog claimed that “he is just happy to be on the road and hitting Grindr at every stop”.
“[Sivan]’s label doesn’t contribute at all to his tour, so he doesn’t really care about sales… If the ticket sales don’t increase, the label is likely to pull the plug,” @celebriteablinds_ said in a now-deleted post.
Sivan has since responded to the claims “genuinely homophobic” claims.
“Straight people are getting way too comfortable… [Charli and I] are playing 22 shows across the country that are 95% sold out, by the way. The only city that we’re flopping in is Nashville, and it’s at 78%,” he said.
Sivan went on to explain that he doesn’t need to go on tour to have sex and slammed the blog for the “sex shame”.
“First of all, I don’t need to travel the country to get laid. I can get laid wherever I want. I can get laid in LA,” he added.
“I’m going on tour because I released an album, and because people are buying tickets to see the show. So, fuck you.”
Sivan is on tour with Charli xcx on their joint Sweat Tour across the US and Canada. While Aussies sadly don’t get the Sweat Tour — nor did we properly get Brat Summer — Sivan will be heading home in November for his biggest Australian tour to date.
The Something To Give Tour will kick off in Adelaide on November 19, before heading to Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Auckland.
