The Cincinnati Bengals put together a well-regarded undrafted class this year in large part thanks to the haul at wide receiver.
Damion Willis out of Troy is one of the big talking points there. Willis and Stanley Morgan were two of the guys mentioned by Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com when he was asked which long shots he thinks might make the final roster:
And you’ve got to figure the three undrafted receivers can make a run pushing Cody Core, Auden Tate and Josh Malone. Temple’s Ventell Bryant (6-3, 209), Nebraska’s Stanley Morgan (6-0, 202) and Troy’s Damion Willis (6-3, 204), all have the size and look to have the hands. Keep an eye on Willis, coming off a season with 17 catches of at least 30 yards.
Indeed, it’s hard to ignore Willis thanks to his big-play ability. Last year he caught 56 passes for 876 yards and 10 touchdowns, averaging 15.6 yards per catch.
But Morgan was the headliner of the undrafted class, and players such as quarterback Jake Dolegala and guard Keaton Sutherland, to name a few, should also put up a good fight.
With a tandem like Willis and Morgan, though, it is clear end-of-chart mainstays like Cody Core have some serious competition this summer.
