Troy Parrott’s loan frustration continues as Tottenham hopeful suffers injury at Preston

Troy Parrott will be ruled out of action until after the World Cup at least in a big blow to the Tottenham loanee.

The forward joined Preston North End on a season-long loan earlier this summer after impressing at MK Dons, scoring 10 goals in League One.

Spurs extended Parrott’s contract prior to his move to Deepdale but the Republic of Ireland international has since struggled, only scoring his first goal - a dramatic winner against Norwich City - on his 13th appearance on Saturday.

Parrott went down injured during his celebrations and the injury serves as another frustration while out on loan, having previously struggled at Millwall and Ipswich.

Preston beat the likes of Sunderland, QPR and Middlesbrough to land the Irishman, though will be without his services for the foreseeable future.

“He’s had his scans and whatnot,” said manager Ryan Lowe.

“It’s not as bad as we first thought, but we’re obviously in dialogue with Tottenham Hotspur as well now because he’s their player, so Jacko [Matt Jackson] is on with them.

“I think the World Cup’s come at a good time for Troy because he will miss a large part, but the fact of the matter is we’ve got that break.

“We won’t have him for the foreseeable future, but after the World Cup when we’re back in action, hopefully he’s back fit and ready, so it’ll give us enough time not to rush.”
