A troubled Lanarkshire restaurant, which was forced to close its doors after an alleged series of "targeted" attacks, has sold at auction.
The former San Vincenzo property in Bothwell has been sold off by Auction House Scotland with a minimum opening bid set at just £150,000.
With 207 bids in total being placed for the property, the derelict building eventually sold for a whopping £458,000, £308,000 or 200 per cent above the original guide price.
A spokeswoman for Auction House Scotland told Lanarkshire Live: "As demonstrated in the result, there was lots of competitive bidding being placed by a variety of different bidders before the online hammer came down at £458,000."
The premises had been listed as an "exciting opportunity" on Auction House Scotland, but the website did state that "internal accommodation has been extensively fire damaged and vandalised throughout, requiring a full programme of works to return to its former glory".
The building was listed for sale in March 2020, with an initial price tag of £600,000 but that was later lowered to offers over £500,000 following a long line of shocking attacks at the once popular restaurant.
Back in October 2019, former owner Vincent Marini shut up shop amid claims of a targeted campaign and a "sustained effort" to drive him out of business.
Shortly before closing his doors that year a red Vauxhall Corsa was deliberately driven through a large window of the building before being set on fire.
Horrified locals watched as flames as high as 50ft leapt from the property.
The ram-raid was the third attack on the restaurant in as many months which included a vehicle being torched outside the property, and in another incident a pick-up truck captured on CCTV as it smashed through a window straight into the restaurant before speeding off.
It had also been targeted by vandals who spray-painted the outside and the roof set on fire.
Thousands of pounds of damage was caused to the restaurant over the months, leading to Marini to close it down.
And since its closure police have probed a further spate of deliberate fires at the property - including two this year.
