Tropical Storm Alberto is anticipated to develop in the Gulf of Mexico by Wednesday, as per the most recent forecast from the National Hurricane Center.
Currently identified as Potential Tropical Cyclone One, the system is situated approximately 350 miles east-southeast of La Pesca, Mexico. While it has not yet formed the closed circulation necessary to be classified as a tropical cyclone, its sustained winds are at tropical storm-force, reaching 40 mph.
The system is expected to move slowly northward this afternoon, followed by a gradual northwest turn tonight. Subsequently, it will shift westward towards Mexico’s northeastern coast on Wednesday morning, with a projected landfall there on Wednesday night.
The moisture from the system will continue to generate heavy rainfall from Texas and Louisiana, extending through eastern Mexico and parts of Central America until Thursday.
