Buckingham Palace has announced the official date for next year's Trooping the Colour - and has revealed some brand new roles for senior members of the Royal Family.
King Charles III 's first official birthday as sovereign will be marked by the military parade on Horse Guards Parade, which sees the monarch take the salute to thousands of assembled r egiments of the Household Division .
This year's Trooping the Colour fell during the late Queen Elizabeth II 's Platinum Jubilee celebrations and culminated in a memorable display from the Red Arrows over the Palace.
It will take place next year on Saturday 17 June, in keeping with its traditional date during the summer month.
The Palace has meanwhile confirmed a shake-up of some established royal roles - with a senior military position once held by the disgraced Prince Andrew now being reallocated.
Queen Consort Camilla will instead take over his role as Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, becoming the first appointed female colonel in the regiment's 366-year history.
Andrew, 61, was stripped of the role alongside his other honorary military titles at the start of the year after allegations were made in a high-profile US lawsuit, which was later settled out of court.
Catherine, Princess of Wales has also been given her first military position, and will become colonel of the Irish Guards - a position previously held by her husband.
Prince William will now be given the title of colonel of the Welsh Guards.
Existing colonelcies of the other regiments within the Household Division will remain the same, including Anne, The Princess Royal as colonel of the Blue and Royals and The Duke of Kent as colonel of the Scots Guards.
His Majesty King Charles III will hold the appointment of Colonel-in-Chief of the Regiments of Household Division, the Palace said.
