THOUSANDS of revellers gathered in Glasgow Green on Friday for the first day of the annual TRNSMT festival.
The festival’s first summer outing since the start of the pandemic hit off in fine form with headliner Paolo Nutini performing his latest chart-topping album Last Night In The Bittersweet.
Also on the bill were Geordie rock singer Sam Fender – who led the crowd in a chant of “F*** the Tories”, Filipina singer beabadoobee, X-Factor contender Ella Henderson, and many more.
Festival-goers seemed unworried by Covid infection rates, including 61-year-old Louise Wilson, who was enjoying her first TRNSMT.
“I think I’m the oldest one here!” she said. “I’m a front-line worker, I get the jags, it’s fine.
“I don’t care how old everybody is, I’m just here to see Paolo.”
James Foster from Hillington, Glasgow, was celebrating his 18th birthday. He said: “It’s absolutely brilliant to be at TRNSMT We’ve got tickets, we’re getting in.”
Saturday's event will feature artists such as headliners The Strokes, Foals, and Jimmy Eat World.
TRNSMT ends on Sunday with headliner Lewis Capaldi. There will also be performances by Norwegian pop artist Sigrid, London-based indie rock band Wolf Alice and Edinburgh singer-songwriter Nina Nesbitt.
