TRNSMT enlists Scotland’s biggest DJs to search for next big star to join Glasgow lineup

Scotland’s biggest music festival, TRNSMT has called upon some of the country’s biggest DJs to find the next generation of talent.

The festival which is held in the east end of the city for three days on Glasgow Green will host big name artists like Sam Fender, The 1975, Becky Hill and Josef. However, an aspiring, grassroots DJ now has the opportunity to join the festival's lineup on the Boogie bar by submitting their music mix.

DJs will have their mixes judged by LF System, Arielle Free, Meg McHugh and Hayley Zalassi, and could win the opportunity to play a set on the festival’s stage on Saturday 8th July.

This is a unique opportunity as this is the first time the festival have run the competition in their hunt for local talent, calling on musicians to submit their best mixes for a chance to join some of the country’s best grassroots DJs and producers on the line-up.

Making the opportunity more thrilling is that the Boogie Bar slots are highly sought after. The festival is annually inundated with requests to play in the arena which brings its own energy, guaranteed to keep the crowd jumping all weekend.

Local DJ, Hayley Zalassi, said: “I’ve been lucky enough to play the boogie bar twice now and it’s an amazing experience to be able to play to such high energy crowd in my home town!

"TRNSMT 2021 was my first time ever playing to a crowd that size and it was such a huge moment for me! I’m super excited to be able to help give a new up and coming artist the chance to feel that too!”

Craig Johnston, Promoter at DF Concerts who programmes the Boogie Bar, said: “TRNSMT 2023 is set to be a massive weekend, filled with great music from huge chart toppers to up-and-coming acts. After two hugely successful years, we’re really excited to bring the Boogie Bar back this summer and showcase some of Scotland’s best DJ talent.

“For the very first time, we’re opening the stage and offering a budding DJ the chance to play a set to thousands of music lovers at Scotland’s biggest festival, joining some of the biggest names in music. A true once-in-a-lifetime gig, it’s guaranteed to make it a summer to remember.

“We’re really pleased to have LF System, Arielle Free, Hayley Zalassi, and Meg McHugh on board with the judging process - some of Scotland’s biggest names in electronic music who know exactly what it takes to get a crowd excited.”

LF System said: “Delighted to be contributing our thoughts for the TRNSMT Boogie Bar competition. We're looking forward to hearing what the next generation of Scottish artists have in their locker."

All submissions should be entered here, and the winner will be announced on 18th May.

Tickets for TRNSMT are now available to purchase via TRNSMT’s website, starting at £79. Tickets can be purchased on payment plans, where the cost of your ticket will be split into three smaller payments.
