Celebrity Big Brother viewers are up in arms after Trisha Goddard was unexpectedly sent packing from the house, sparking a wave of outrage across social media. The 66-year-old talk show host was up for eviction alongside Coronation Street’s Jack P Shepherd and EastEnders legend Patsy Palmer – but fans were stunned when it was Trisha who ended up getting the boot.
Speaking to AJ Odudu and Will Best after her exit, Trisha admitted she felt “a bit sad” about leaving. But for her, being in the house meant more than just a TV appearance – it was a genuine break from the heaviness of real life, reported the Mirror.
“It meant a lot, it’s respite, it’s a holiday from having to think about cancer,” she shared. “With the Big Brother team and my team in the States, they’d cleared everything, so I didn’t have to think of the next scan… I could be like a child again.” She said talking about cancer was inevitable because “it is part of my life, as it is for 3.4 million Brits,” but her time on the show gave her a much-needed mental break.
Trisha’s eviction came after being nominated by Chesney Hawkes, Chris, Ella Rae Wise, and Patsy. Meanwhile, Patsy also received six nominations, and Jack, who fans expected to go, was nominated by Angellica Bell, Danny Beard, Donna Preston, JoJo Siwa, and Trisha.
There was a bit of confusion in the house, too, as Trisha and Patsy nominated each other, citing the East Coast-West Coast divide in America, even though both of them originally hail from East London – a fact fans didn’t miss.
But it was the public vote that left many viewers scratching their heads. Fans quickly flooded X (formerly Twitter) to vent their frustration, with one posting: “The wrong person was voted out, change my mind.” Another added: “I really thought Jack was going to go, Trisha brought so much energy to the house, sad to see her go!”
Others slammed Jack’s lack of screen time, with one fan writing: “And boring Jack gets to stay. I will never understand the way people vote in these programmes.” Another echoed: “Trisha just talks people’s ear off like any good 67-year-old woman. She was entertaining, energetic and really not that bad. Jack has STILL given us absolutely NOTHING.”
With a double eviction now reportedly on the cards, fans are hoping for a shake-up – and maybe even a bit of redemption after what many are calling the biggest eviction upset of the series so far.
