Triple killer Sameer Syed's body to be flown back to India

Triple killer Sameer Syed’s family have formally requested for his body to be flown back to India, embassy officials have confirmed.

The Star has also learned that the post-mortem examination results for Syed (38), who hanged himself in his cell in the Midlands Prison last week, have still not been completed.

But we have learned that the remorseless killer (38), who was due to stand trial for murdering his wife Seema Banu (37) and her two children Asfira Riza (11) and Faizan Syed (six) yesterday, is now set to have his body flown to Bangalore, India — after his extended family made a formal request with the Indian consulate in Ireland.

A spokesperson for the Embassy of India in Ireland confirmed to this paper yesterday that it has been in touch with Syed’s family in Bangalore — and they have requested consular assistance in having his body flown home — as “he has no family in Ireland.”

“We have been in touch with the family in India and they have asked for him to be brought back there,” the spokesperson said.

“We are however still waiting for the report from the post mortem examination to come back.

“The family have been told of the developments and we will have to see the findings of the report first.”

The development comes a day after it emerged that authorities in the Islamic Foundation of Ireland told this paper that they are willing to bury the evil killer separately to his wife and children in Newcastle Cemetery in Dublin — where he forcibly had them buried despite their family’s wishes.

The officials, who arranged the burials of the tragic murder victims, say that while they were expecting to be contacted about Sameer’s funeral, they hadn’t yet been.

“If we are asked, we’ve already made the decision that he will be buried separately, ‘’ Fazel Ryklief, Administration Officer with IFI told this paper.

It is likely that the IFI will still handle the embalming of Syed’s body and prayers will be said for him before his coffin is sealed and sent to India, officials said.

Meanwhile, Brendan Grehan SC, for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), yesterday told a hearing that there will be a “full inquest” into the deaths of Syed’s wife Seema Banu and her children.

Mr Grehan asked Mr Justice Paul McDermott, the judge who takes charge of the Central Criminal Court trial list, to close the court file on Syed, formally ending the criminal proceedings against him.

The judge said this was a “very tragic case” involving the death of a mother and children. He expressed his sympathy to the families.
