Triple H had no idea who Logan Paul was when YouTube star joined WWE

WWE took a well-calculated punt when they hired Logan Paul to wrestle at Summerslam, but head of creative Triple H has said he had no idea who the YouTuber was prior to signing.

Paul—who has signed a 'multi-year, multi-event' deal with WWE—made a literal splash when he defeated The Miz in a 15-minute blockbuster at the Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. The social media star pulled off a flurry of signature moves and was praised for his bag of tricks, which included a frog splash from the tope rope onto the announcer tables.

If there were anyone in or around the WWE universe who wasn't aware of his pro wrestling potential, they are now. And Triple H—real name Paul Levesque—is among that number after having his eyes opened to Paul's prowess inside the ring.

“You want me to be completely honest," asked 'The Game' during an appearance on the 'Impaulsive' podcast . "I said ‘Who the f**k is that? Yeah, who?’ Yeah, no offence. It’s funny because some people talk about our business and how they watched as a kid. That means they’ve never watched and they don’t wanna offend me. It’s not for everybody.

“When they first said it, Kristen Prouty [WWE's senior vice-president of e ntertainment relations] walked in and talked all about it and [I went]: ‘Yeah, I don’t know who that is.’ Yeah, I had no idea and then they told me and I started looking at it and I was like ‘Holy s**t, these dudes are massive.'"

In more ways that one, too, considering Paul boasts more than 30million followers across Instagram and Facebook. The Ohio native went to an exhibition draw against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in June 2021, soon after he had made his WWE debut on the company's Smackdown brand.

Do you think Logan Paul will ever be crowned WWE champion? Let us know in the comments section.

Triple H isn't the only wrestling legend to have boarded the Paul hype train as former WWE world heavyweight champion Booker T praised his athleticism and memory to pull off so many moves.

"I believe in Logan Paul, as far as being a part of this business, learning it, and really figuring out that intricate detail," said Booker.

"This guy can be really good. Just from watching some of the athleticism stunts he pulled out, I'm like, 'Wow, he can do a whole lot more than I can - or I could.'"
