‘Triggered’ Oscars host Amy Schumer says she’s ‘traumatized’ by watching Will Smith slap Chris Rock

Amy Schumer is “triggered and traumatized” after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars she was co-hosting, but not so much that she couldn’t use the experience to direct fans to her new Hulu show.

Schumer, who co-hosted Sunday’s dramatic awards show with Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes, took a side early Wednesday morning after the viral moment that shook the Dolby Theatre.

“I love my friend (Chris Rock) and believe he handled it like a pro. Stayed up there and gave an Oscar to his friend (Questlove) and the whole thing was so disturbing,” the 40-year-old Manhattan, New York-born comedian wrote on Instagram.

“So much pain in (Will Smith). Anyway I’m still in shock and stunned and sad. I’m proud of myself and my cohosts. But yeah. Waiting for this sickening feeling to go away from what we all witnessed.”

She started the post by jokingly advising everyone else triggered by the event to “unpack what happened” by watching her new show, “Life and Beth,” and buying tickets to her fall tour.

Schumer was also the only host to acknowledge the slap during the Oscars after a high-flying sketch about the hosts’ favorite characters.

“I’ve been getting out of that Spider-Man costume, did I miss anything?” she asked during the show. “There’s like a different vibe in here.”

Smith’s slap in defense of his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, after Rock joked about her shaved head, has now dragged into its fourth day, as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ board of governors is expected to meet later Wednesday to discuss any possible punishments for the “King Richard” star.
