Trigger Point viewers left baffled by one aspect of the ITV drama

Trigger Point returned for its second instalment on Sunday, January 30 and had ITV viewers gripped with more nail-biting action.

The high octane thriller starring Line of Duty's Vicky McClure "turns the spotlight on counter terrorism policing and the extraordinary work of the Metropolitan Police Bomb Disposal Squad".

It follows Lana Washington, played by McLure, who is an experienced bomb disposal operative, known as an "Expo" and her colleagues as they try to keep tragedies at bay. Warning, there are spoilers further down in this article.

And while fans are loving the new drama, many have been questioning why Vicky's character Lana takes her helmet off whenever she's in a dangerous situation.

Following the second episode social media was flooded with comments about the fact.

One viewer wrote: "Why does Lana Washington bother putting a helmet and goggles on? She takes them off every time she gets close to a bomb. #triggerpoint."

While another added: "Why does Vicky always take her helmet off???? #TriggerPoint #ProtectVickyAtAllCosts."

And a third said: "I don't understand why she puts on all her gear, just to take it off as soon as she's staring at a bomb #triggerpoint."

"I know she's just doing the job but it's stressing me out she keeps taking her hat off #triggerpoint," commented a fourth.

The most recent instalment of Trigger Point saw Adrian Lester's fate confirmed after last weekend's cliffhanger.

Episode one ended with Joel 'Nut' Nutkins, played by Adrian, checking on a van in the car park before it exploded. Shortly after the titles rolled leaving many wondering if Joel had survived.

However, minutes into the second episode Lana was seen listening to a report on the Westhaven bombing on the radio, with the announcer confirming 40-year-old Nut was among the fatalities.

"Stressful init!!!" Vicky wrote to her Twitter followers after the second instalment. "So glad you're liking #triggerpoint means a lot to us all!."

Trigger Point continues at 9pm on ITV.
