Trigger Point season two is taking shape nicely with Vicky McClure, showrunner Jed Mercurio, and other cast members pictured at a read-through ahead of filming taking place later this month.
Line of Duty actress McClure, 39, is set to reprise her role as bomb disposal operative Lana “Wash” Washington, who works as part of the Metropolitan Police Bomb Disposal Squad in the new six-part cop series.
ITV shared a series of behind-the-scenes pictures from the read-through, including one of Nottinghamshire-born McClure excitedly showing off the cover of her new script.
Another image saw key members of the cast such as Eric Shango (Danny), sat behind long tables as they reacquainted themselves with their characters.
Almost 11 million viewers tuned into the first episode of Trigger Point when it aired on ITV last year, with the first series averaged 9.5 million viewers per episode.
The first series charted the story of a London terror campaign that threatened to push Lana and her team of “expos” past their limit.
As for what the second series cold hold, writer Daniel Brierley has offered few crumbs so far.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, he teased that there is a “whole world of ideas” for where to take the story next.
He also expressed his hope to delve deeper into the complex psychology that underpins Lana’s impressive ability to keep going in the face of terrible loss and insurmountable odds.
He told the publication: “I think Lana is resilient and she’s tough as nails, and that’s part of her charm, but [the trauma] can’t help but have an effect and that was really interesting.”
No release date has been confirmed yet, but Trigger Point season two is expected to be hitting screens later this year.
