Trigger Point's Vicky McClure concerned for ITV viewers after devastating ending to episode one

*THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR EPISODE ONE*

Vicky McClure rushed to Twitter to check in on how ITV viewers were doing after her new drama Trigger Point launched with a devastating ending on Sunday night.

After weeks and weeks of preview adverts and Vicky plugging it on various TV shows, the new six part thriller finally made its debut this weekend.

ITV even had a countdown clock appear on screen as the minutes ticked down to Trigger Point's first episode and, while some viewers moaned that its premiere was rather slow to get started, it's closing moments definitely weren't for the faint hearted.

Vicky, known to scores of Line of Duty fans as no nonsense AC-12 icon Kate Fleming, has switched channels and teamed up with the BBC show's creator Jed Mercurio for the new show.

Vicky stars as front line explosives officer Lana Washington, who is reunited with Joel Nutkins, played by Adrian Lester, to ind out who is behind terrorist bombings in London, before they lead to massive fatalities.

*SPOILER ALERT* Episode one saw Vicky's new TV alias confronted with a bloodied bomb maker who had a device strapped to him, leaving people watching at home on tenterhooks as Lana and Joel worked frantically against the clock to stop it from going off.

There was also a very nerve wracking moment with a light switch but, while the duo's expertise paid off in both of those scenarios the millions who tuned into episode 1, were left in shock after a bomb exploded in the closing moments of the first episode.

Seconds after Joel had warned everyone to move away from a van, it exploded, sparking chaotic scenes as Lana was dragged to safety, with no sign of Joel amongst the debris.

And taking to Twitter, Vicky checked that everyone was OK after watching, while admitting she was a bit shaken up herself.

The actress, who had warned viewers to expect 'a bumpy ride,' in the hours leading up to episode one, posted: "How we doing?!" along with a shocked emoji, before adding: "(Even I jumped!!)"

Sharp to respond, one of Vicky' many followers told her: It was tense I can’t lie. Wine didn’t touch the sides. Congratulations. It was superb," with a second replying: "i also think my heart leaped out and back in again."

A third joked: "The only problem with living alone is you can’t close your eyes and ask someone else what’s happening. Who wants to watch the next episode with me and hold my hand?"
