Tributes to 'much loved' father Gary Clarke who died in Jet Ski accident

Tributes have been paid to a much loved father of one who died following a jet ski accident in Carlingford Lough.

Warrenpoint man Gary Clarke passed away following an accident on Carlingford Lough on Monday, May 22, when a jet ski overturned, breaking the hearts of his friends and family.

A woman was also injured during the incident and has since been discharged from hospital.

Many have paid tribute to Gary on social media with him being described as a kind-hearted and fun-loving person who was a great friend and loving father to his daughter Mary-Kate.

One person said: "So sorry to hear this news. Gary was a lovely lad, always had a smile and chat whenever he met you. Sincere condolences to Mary-Kate, Marion, Billy, Adele and Jane."

While another said: "So sad for Gary's daughter and family. He truly was one of a kind and was always laughing. A Warrenpoint legend and he will be missed by many. RIP Gary."

Gary's funeral will take place on Saturday, May 27, in St Peter's Church, Warrenpoint, with his family asking for donations to the RNLI in lieu of flowers.

A statement on Funeral Times said: "Clarke (Warrenpoint) 23rd May 2023, as a result of an accident, Gary, loving father of Mary-Kate, dearly loved son of Marian and the late Patsy, much loved brother of Billy, Edel and Jane and cherished uncle and nephew. 28, Milltown Street Burren, Warrenpoint.

"May he rest in peace.

"Gary’s remains will repose at his home until removal on Saturday at 12.15pm arriving at St. Peters Church, Warrenpoint for 1pm Requiem Mass (churchmedia.tv) followed by interment in Massforth Cemetery, Kilkeel.

"House Strictly Private Please.

"Deeply regretted and lovingly remembered by his family, family circle and many friends.

"Donations in lieu of flowers please to R.N.L.I."
