Tributes to 'loving and generous' aunt who died in A470 crash

The family of a woman who died following a crash have paid tribute to "loving and generous" aunt Marilynn Kerrigan.

The 68-year-old died in a two-vehicle collision which happened at around 4.45pm on May 19 on the A470 near Dolwyddelan, the Conwy village where Ms Kerrigan lived. Three people suffered life-threatening injuries.

A large emergency response, including two air ambulances, attended the crash site between Dolwyddelan and Betws-y-Coed. The accident involved a cream Renault Captur and a beige Daimler vintage car, North Wales Live reports.

In their tribute to Marilynn, her family said: “It is with great sadness we announce the sad loss of our beloved sister and aunt in a tragic accident. She was always a very loving and generous person, who was enjoying life to the full and will be greatly missed by her family and all the many friends who knew her.

"Our thoughts and prayers are also with the other people involved in this terrible tragedy. We, her family, are devastated and will find it hard to come to terms with her loss. The family would like to give their profound thanks to the emergency services and the members of the public who assisted Marilynn at the scene of this tragic accident and to North Wales Police for their compassion and professionalism dealing with such tragic circumstances."

North Wales Police continue to appeal for witnesses. Shortly after the tragedy Sergeant Jason Diamond of the Roads Policing Unit said: "Sadly, this is now being investigated as a fatal road traffic collision and our thoughts remain with everyone involved.

“We believe that the Renault was travelling towards the Betws-y-Coed area with the Daimler travelling in the opposite direction towards Dolwyddelan and I am urging anybody who may have seen either vehicle being driven prior to the collision, or anybody who may have been travelling along the A470 and who may have dash cam footage, to contact us immediately."

Anybody with information that could assist with the investigation is urged to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit, via live web chat, or by calling 101, quoting incident number B071845.
