Tributes to beloved Edinburgh dad who was 'kindest soul' and popular local waiter

A Beloved dad from Edinburgh who was the 'kindest soul' has tragically died after a short battle with cancer. Claudio Patrocchi, passed away with his wife by his side after a short fight with the cruel disease.

The dad of one was described by his workplace as one of the "cheeriest" and "happiest" people they knew and they touchingly told how he could put a smile on anyone's face.

Sadly he leaves his wife Barbara and young son Riccardo who have been devastated by the huge loss.

Claudio worked as a waiter at a local Italian restaurant in Dalkeith where he was adored by locals who described his kind nature and caring personality that brightened a room.

Sharing the tragic news on behalf of Claudio's family Jess the owner of the Cavaliere Ristorante and Wine Bar in Dalkeith, wrote: "Unfortunately, Claudio lost his short battle with cancer last week, and passed away peacefully with his beloved wife by his side.

"We have lost not only our fantastic waiter, but our very dear friend, and we will forever have him in our hearts.

"Claudio was one of the cheeriest and happiest people that we all knew, he could put a smile on anyone's face, full of life, however even more full of mischief!"

She continued: "His wife Barbara and son Riccardo will always remain a part our Cavaliere family. Please keep them in your thoughts.

"For anyone wishing to pay their respects, His funeral will take place on the 29th November, 10am at Mortonhall Crematorium."

Dozens of tributes poured in for the tragic dad with hundreds of members of the community paying their respects.

Angela Paterson said: "This is so sad he was the kindest soul. He always remembered everything about you. Always went over and above to make sure you had the best experience."

Janice Burns added: "Oh no! Claudia was a lovely kind gentleman. He was so sweet to me when my husband passed away. I will keep his family in my prayers."

While Rebecca Docherty said: "This is so heartbreaking Claudio Patrocchi. My thoughts are with your wife and son. He was the happiest, kindest man."
