Tributes pour in for 'the sweetest person' after body found in search for vet

A Scottish vet who was reported missing on Friday from the Borders has been remembered as "the sweetest person", after a body was found during the search for her.

Kirsty Miller, 29, was reported missing from Newtown St Boswells, but friends and family were left devastated after a body was discovered in Melrose at around 11:30 am on Monday report the Record.

Heartbroken friends took to social media to pay tribute to Kirsty, with one writing: "This is such an awful shame. I wouldn’t have made it through my first week at high school if it wasn’t for Kirsty.

"She was such a clever girl and the sweetest person, my thoughts go out to her friends and family."

Another added: "She was a brilliant vet and a valued member of the community. She taught me so much in my final EMS weeks and will be so missed. Condolences to all family, friends and colleagues."

One added: "This is horrible news to read. I went to school with Kirsty and she was so lovely and also a great veterinary surgeon. It is just so unbelievably tragic"

Another friend said: "This is such a sad outcome for such a remarkable, beautiful soul.

"Kirsty, my heart breaks that you thought the world would be better without you in it. All my love to those that loved and care for you."

Police Scotland said earlier today there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A spokesperson said: "Around 11.30am on Monday, 21 November, police discovered the body of a woman in the Melrose area. Formal identification has still to take place."

They added: "However, it's believed to be 29-year-old Kirsty Miller, missing from Newtown St Boswells since Friday 19 November, 2022.

"Her family has been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious."
