A southside community has been rocked by the death of a beloved local figure.
Tributes have poured in for Davy Patterson of Pattersons Butchers who died this week. Davy was known as "The Butcher" in his locality of Stepaside.
Independent councillor Michael Fleming of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council said Patterson will be "sadly missed" in an emotional message. He said on Facebook: "Very sad news that that Davy Patterson has passed away.

"A true gentleman that a lot of people would know as the Butcher in Stepaside for many years. He will be sadly missed. Rest in peace, Davy."
Friends and well-wishers took to the comments to remember the "true gentleman". One person said: "One of the nicest men you could meet, RIP Davie."
Another person added: "Such sad sad news, I got my meat from Davy for all the years. He was a legend. Rest in peace, Davy." A third Facebook user added? "I’m so sad to hear the passing of Davy, he was a true gentleman who was always a cheery man, was always so chatty and had a warm personality.
He will be sadly missed by everyone around the area of Stepaside. Rest in peace, Davy." Another person said: "Very sorry to read this sad news. Davy was one of a kind - a great character.
"Knew him since he was a young lad delivering for the butcher in Sandyford on his bike with the big basket in front. Rest in peace, Davy."
