Tributes pour in as talented County Roscommon footballer dies

Tributes have poured in after the loss of Christopher 'Christy' Leahy hailing from County Roscommon.

Local GAA club Fuerty paid tribute to the late Christy in a message shared to their Facebook page.

They said: "Fuerty GAA are saddened by the death of Christy Leahy.

"A very talented footballer with a fantastic left foot, Christy was a good clubman and a great friend to many.

"R.I.P. Christy."

Athleague Hurling Club also expressed their deepest sympathy to Christy’s family and friends.

Furthermore, many touching tributes were posted online in memory of the Roscommon man.

One said: "Heartbreaking news ... deepest sympathy to Christy's family & friends and all in Fuerty GAA Club.

"May Christy Rest in Peace."

Another post paid tribute to his personality as well as his footballing talents.

It read: "Rest in peace Christy a gifted footballer and lovely lad.

"Deepest sympathy to the Leahy family on this very hard time for ye."
