Tributes pour in after death of young Irish folk musician in car crash

Tributes have poured in to a young Irish musician after he passed away following a car crash over the weekend.

Barry Mohan was a guitarist and vocalist with Tyrone band All Folk'd Up, who have toured the UK and the US, with residencies in Mandalay Bay Casino Resort in Las Vegas and the Cheltenham Festival under their belts.

The band say they were "deeply saddened and shocked" to hear the news of Barry's passing.

In a statement, their PR company Rising wrote: "We are deeply saddened and shocked to learn of the death this morning of Barry Mohan, guitarist and talented musician with All Folk’d Up, in a road traffic collision last night.

"Barry was an integral part of the band’s success and brother of lead singer Pauric. His energy and enthusiasm was always evident on stage and will be sadly missed on the local music scene.

"We have worked with Barry over the last number of years, and it was apparent that his talent, his professionalism on and off stage, his love for music, and his drive and determination for the band was always there with a smile on his face."

Fellow musicians, friends and fans rushed to support the band and pay tribute to Barry.

Cliona Hagan wrote: "Condolences to all the family! Thoughts and prayers with you all at this very sad time" while Marty Mone added: "Condolences to the entire family and band members. RIP Barry."

Others wrote: "Absolutely devastated you were just one of the best !!! Thanks for the memories I will miss you" and "Heart goes out to you all, such a loss, talent and a great lad, never a smile off his face - til we meet again Barry."

Another heartfelt tribute said: "The Irish music scene will never ever be the same again... From entertaining crowds in Miltown Malbay with his witty humour and Irish/break dancing to rocking every single stage between Tyrone and the far side of the world with his brother. An absolute gentleman and Legend"

Barry is survived by his older brother Pauric, his mother Marina and his daughter Céala Rose, among others.
